CATCHING UP WITH AMERICANA

I do realize how out of place this mixtape is in the collection of “Catching Up Withs”, but I have a soft spot for this particular genre of music and listen to it far more than I post on the site. Generally speaking, this collection will be the furthest from a definitive collection of Americana music because I chose to post my favorites from newer, more prominent artists as opposed to digging back into the history of Americana and folk. So consider this just a brush up of contemporary Americana music, which generally includes sounds from alt-country, folk, rock and roll, and blues. I suppose I should have just named this one “Catching Up With Alt-Country” but I don’t really like that name, and I have a tendency to be a dumbass.

So with that being said, here’s a mixtape of songs from bands that were the inspiration for, inspired by, or the epitome of the modern scene generally referred to as Americana (or Alt-Country, if you must).
